Team Ivy

|
One of my favourite bloggers, Tif from Three Ring Circus has a little girl called Ivy. Ivy was born at 30 weeks and as a result has an immune deficiency. What this means is that this beautiful little girl (and her Mum) spend a lot of time in hospital.

Tif is currently raising money to buy beds for the parents of sick children to sleep in (they currently have to either sleep in a chair or on a mattress on the floor) and is also raising money to buy a fridge for the wonderful nursing staff that dedicate their lives to looking after sick children.

This cause hits close to home for me. My gorgeous Niece has chronic asthma and around four or five times a year my Sister finds herself sleeping in a chair in a hospital room whilst Ava recovers, sometimes for a week at a time.

Click the Team Ivy picture at the top of the post to donate. Every little bit we can raise will help.

My Baby Can Roll

|
***
Yesterday morning Max rolled over for the first time. It was so cute!

I put him on his belly for some tummy time (which he has been hating lately) and he just rolled over. He went halfway and then stopped and looked up at me. Then rolled the rest of the way over and gave the biggest grin ever! Adorable :)

I went and grabbed the Big Man straight away to tell him. Then we put Max on his belly and he did it again!

Seeing as it wasn't a fluke I went and got the camera so that I could video him. But by then he wasn't having a bar of it. So all I got was video footage of him lying on his belly and screaming, with my hand coming into the shot to poke him. Poor baby. Rolling over twice in one day must have exhausted him!

It's such a big milestone and I am so excited for him. I can't wait to see what he does next!

My Grandma is arriving from New Zealand later on this afternoon. I am so excited! I am going to spend the day making sure that everything is spotless, choosing the perfect flowers for the guest room and buying some groceries!

Here's what you missing if your not (or if you are but aren't following me!)...

Riveting stuff, no?

Like Father Like Son

A couple of weeks ago the Big Man's grandparents sent me through a photo from when the Big Man was a baby.

I was amazed, the resemblance is striking. Max looks so much like his Daddy!

When I was pregnant the Big Man used to joke that I would be in a lot of trouble if the baby came out black (am I allowed to say that?). Hopefully these photos put his mind at ease!

Baby Shower

|
***
On Saturday night I hosted a baby shower for my friend Dez.

We decided on a red, white & blue plane theme as that's how she is planning on decorating her nursery. The night went off without a hitch and I think that everyone had a really good time. I know Dez enjoyed herself and that really is the main thing.

I was busy all night running the games, keeping glasses full and checking on the Mum's in the kitchen so I didn't take nearly enough photos. I did get a few good ones, but not as many as I would've liked.

Everytime I plan and host an event like this people comment that I should consider doing it for a living and I always say thank you and then quickly dismiss the idea. Lately though I have been giving it a bit more thought. Nothing definite, but I am thinking about it.

In the meantime I need some more friends to get pregnant so that I can plan more parties!

Night Feeds

|

Whenever people ask me about Max, they always ask if he is sleeping through the night yet. It's just one of those questions that everyone asks.

I tell them 'no, he still wakes once, sometimes twice for a feed each night'. I also explain that I really don't mind him waking up and I mean it, I really don't mind.

Last night though Max slept right through for the first time. He slept from 7.3o until 11pm in his pram (we were out) and then from 11pm until 7am in his bed.

As I was getting ready for bed tonight and I was wondering if he would sleep through again. I realised that I was kind of hoping he wouldn't and I started to wonder why I like him waking up to feed during the night.

It didn't take me long to work out that it's because the only time I get to breastfeed him is when he is all sleepy and relaxed, and that only happens during the night and first thing in the morning.

If Max stops waking up to feed in the night I will miss out on that special time with him. Which makes me feel really sad.

So I hope that next time someone asks me if Max is sleeping through the night yet I still get to say no.

Ups and Downs

One of the things that has really surprised me since having Max is how different any two days can be. One day Max can be an absolute angel and the very next day a monster!

Yesterday I got lucky and Max was in one of his great moods. He was happy and smiley all day, napped really well and the highlight was when I took him grocery shopping and he laughed and smiled at strangers from the capsule on the trolley. It was so sweet, baby smiles can melt even the coldest of hearts!

Today I was back at work and the Big Man was not so lucky with Max. By the time the two of them picked me up after I finished work the Big Man was exhausted. Apparantly Max spent the entire day crying, wanting to be held and refusing to sleep. Not nice Max! I'm not sure what was going on with him today, but it was like he was a completely different baby.

I'm hoping that tomorrow he reverts back to his usual smiley self. If he repeats the monster behaviour too many times I'm not sure that the Big Man will be as happy about looking after him while I work.

Crossing my fingers!

Home Alone

|
***
Max and I just had our first ever night without the Big Man home {he has gone down to the Gold Coast for a friends bucks party}. I won't lie, I was scared. I don't like to be alone at the best of times and especially not at night.

I think that Max must have noticed that I was nervous... He slept like normal until I came to bed, but after his 10pm feed he would only sleep if he was in the bed with me. Several times throughout the night I tried to put him back into his bed, but he would kick all of his blankets off and grumble until I picked him up. Then, as soon as I put him down in my bed he would fall asleep.

Who I am to complain though, waking up to sweet baby breath is the next best thing to waking up next to the Big Man!

This morning we had a bit of sleep in and now Max is as happy as larry, playing on his playmat and staring at himself in his mirror.

Hopefully the Big Man gets home soon so that I can tell him how brave we were!

Ready for Another Week

I had a lovely weekend.

I spent it with family and friends and even got to meet my friend Cat's new puppy Edward (Eddie for short).

A weekend like this was exactly what I needed.

PS I posted a photo of Eddie, a photo of my niece and a photo of Max cuddling up to his Nonna over on my project 365 blog.
